Broken Muse

Description

This one is my entry for the Musical Muse Contest. It expresses what music means to me and how important it is as muse for my art. Music makes my mind flow, and that is where I gain my creativity from.

I'm desperate without music. And I bet you would be, too.
For anyone who's interested: I listened to Modest Mouse while creating this piece of art.

EDIT: I re-submitted it with some decent changes like a missing "n" in the last line and a slightly thicker border.

Nice colours.

And as for 'bad' critique... and don't take it personally, there's just a message above my textbox engourangig me to pick on you :)

Two last lines are bothering a bit. Firstly that the last line is too 'lost'. If I'd be lazy viewer I wouldn't bother doing the hard work of trying to read it.

And secondly the last thought of 'heart not beating anymore' goes on 2 lines. I know i't looks better when lines arranged like that, but the message get's a bit scrambled. When I first looked at it, I didn't grasp the point - I could not understand. When one point is on one line, it would be a lot of easier to understand where one thought ends and the other starts. A full stop (dot) doesn't affect the eye enough in this picture to tell the brain "Make a pause, NOW!" :)

And one more thought. "You're desperate when your spirit get's broken, your mind stops, your heart wont beat anymore." It can be taken literally... especially when the tape isn't so forwardcoming on this picture. So maybe something more should indicate that MUSIC IS your spirit, mind and heart.

To not to be a complete bitch here's what I'd do: I'd draw out some more canvas under the picture (so the last line is seen better) and add some small(!) text with a point: MUSIC IS my spirit, mind and heart. :) (...but that doesn't mean I'm expecting you to do it, oh no)

Otherwise, I truly like the colors, the font and the brushes.

But what I actually wanted, was to ask where those brushes are taken?
