Hehe, actually my last deviation was compared with the work of *tannermorrow (go check him out!) - and his work was compared to Mister Scott Hansen. This guy is fabulous... what can I say? I just ripped his style and combined it a bit with my personal ambitions.

What you see is the result: A simple poster. I thought that it would be nice to mention Scott Hansen here...

Illustrator and Photoshop. Took 2 hours, finally.
The texture is a stock... but I can't remeber which one it was.

Re-submission with more distorsion on the border and the edge of the brown tiles. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have to say I'm a fan of the grungy textures and nice retro colours. Good job, you maybe have copied the style but you sure are good at it ! Nice one :p

Thank you very much :) I guess I'll do more retro works from now on... but I won't rip off anything then... this was just to try how to do a retro piece. :)

ha, funny... i know the guy's work, and i like some of his stuff, this style is absolutely none my cuppa tea tho.
it's not scott hansen's fault probably that everyone wants to make/like/be 70s these days, or maybe he just fell victim to a virus fuck knows haha.

good piece and all :)

the only thing i sugest is to make the las name the same tan color as the rest, because is the only word that is completely white, i dont know if this was on purpose.

It was on purpose to have the last name white, yeah... but maybe you're right with your suggestions. I'm gonna try that :)

I think it's quite nice mrgraphicsdude. Seeing as how it's meant to be scratchy and decayed, I'd only suggest that you perhaps grunge out the edges of the border. The outer perimeters of the torquoise and browns that meets the cream border looks too sharp and clean, hence making it seem odd the only the insides suffered the 'years of aging and decay' whilst the outside still looks clean and new. Get what I mean?

Now what you designed is nice, basic, and your own. You even made a nice shout out to Scott Hansen. It shouldn't be considered 'ripping' off when you work in a style that someone else may have made popular. The problem arises when you use a style AND copy concepts. For example, Hansen has a design that shows an old video camera spurting out the colours of the rainbow.. When you see something similar come from someone like tannermorrow that's when you have to question originality.

;)
haha its okay, your style have always reminded me a bit of his works anyway. its a cool style after all it's just overrated imho.
